QUOTE: Re: Monotheisms Cannot Coexist

“For people with God on their side, monotheists are a touchy lot. In Exodus, Moses gets the tribe of Levi to go with “sword at side” and massacre 3,000 calf-worshippers. And we are supposed to celebrate such a violation of the freedome of worship? Why are they so touchy? The problem is partly that all monotheisms are, by their nature, anti-pluralistic. They’ve got the one true God, the very latest version of his thoughts. It is asking a lot of monotheisms to coexist with other faiths and views.” - David Aaronovitch

    Great website you have here.

Quite clearly, monotheisms cannot co-exist on their own terms, that was why I smelled a rat when our govt(Singapore) proposed inter faith dialogues. These bigots are going to discuss nothing but their common hatreds for atheists, gays, evolution and what have yous.

Being born in a multi religious country, my experience tells me that for people to coexist, religious has to be set aside. People who are steeped in their religious beliefs tend to be more or less segregated from other cultures in settings when they can choose to be around with.
